The only thing I can definitively say is my favorite, is the brands of line I use. I like Berkley Trilene XT and XL. My choice for braid is Power Pro. These lines consistently perform at the high level I expect from them, while being more affordable than some of the others. I would probably say my best reel is my Pflueger President spinning reel. The smoothness of operation is unmatched and I know I can count on the drag system. I own several other spinning and casting reels including reels by Shimano, Abu Garcia, Daiwa, Pflueger, Quantum, BPS, and Cabela's, and they are all good reels. Rods for me is a little different. I find myself saying "this is my new favorite rod! " a lot. Depending on when, where, how, and how big the fish was that I caught. I am very impressed with my newest line of rods that I'm using. They are made by American Rodsmiths, and are great rods! My favorite lures change a lot too, but if I had to pick one it would probably be the Zoom Trick Worm. I've always had much success with them. My favorite technique is no doubt pitching. I like to pitch in and around lilly pads, weeds, fallen trees, bushes, boat docks (boats and docks!), any man made cover. Our fishing " favorites " may change from time to time depending on our successes, but most of us I'm sure, have at least one "good ole " tried and tested favorite. Nothing I've said was meant to be an endorsement, just offering some of my favorite gear. Others may offer something else and that's fine. Since you're new to bass fishing I will say this, find what feels good and works best for YOU. Other people may give you a hard time about your choice of rod or brand of reel. If you like Ugly Stiks and Pinnacle reels, and you catch fish and have fun doing it, by all means keep using what you're using. Good luck, practice often, and don't give up!

Suffix Performance Braid Line. A Rapala Skitter Walk. Change out the hooks for some killer trebles. a 7 foot MH rod. Baitcaster Reel .Walk the dog all around heavy cover and you will catch bass like no other. an added bonus is watching the sucker fly up and knock your lure ten feet
